Check Point to Acquire External Cyber Risk Management Firm Cyberint

Cybersecurity firm Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP) has agreed to acquire Cyberint Technologies, a company that fuses threat intelligence with attack surface reconnaissance to help organizations manage external risk exposure.

Cyberint’s platform uses a combination of dark web data harvesting and continuous testing of an organization’s attack surface and augments that data with threat intelligence experts to deliver security-themed alerts.

Founded in 2010, Tel Aviv, Israel-based Cyberint has over 170 employees and has raised $68 million in funding, including a $40 million round announced in June 2022.

Check Point says the acquisition will enhance its own Security Operations Center (SOC) capabilities and expand its managed threat intelligence offerings. Cyberint’s capabilities will be integrated into the Check Point Infinity Platform for collaborative threat prevention and will also be available as a managed service, Check Point said.

While terms of the deal were not disclosed, Calcalist reported the acquisition being valued at roughly $200 million, including cash and shares.

“Leaked credentials and fake websites designed for malicious purposes are staggeringly prevalent today, with over 90% of organizations facing these threats. This highlights the urgent need for real-time intelligence and proactive defense strategies, which our technology is able to mitigate in an effective way,” said Yochai Corem, CEO at Cyberint. “We are thrilled to join the Check Point team. Integrating our solutions into the Infinity Platform will enhance our ability to protect organizations. Together, we will offer a more comprehensive security SOC offering that covers both internal and external threats.”

The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2024, subject to customary closing conditions.
